oh Woody…

The moment that we were instructed to post a blog about an artist whose work is influenced by a city, the only person who could adequately fit the assignment, was the man of NYC itself, Woody Allen. Born in Brooklyn, December 1, 1935 this Sagittarius is a 3 time Academy Award-winner, writer, actor, comedian and musician. Much of his inspiration comes from Marx, psychology, sexuality, literature, and most importantly New York City. When I think of NYC, Woody Allen is the first person who comes into my mind due to his continual use of the neurotic New Yorker character which is cause for both scrutiny and commencement of most of his work. After failing a film class, he was expelled from NYU and started writing for shows such as The Tonight Show at only 19. Although Woody Allen seems to piss many off with his use of satire and repetitive characters, he is still a man who defied the system of filmmaking and rewrote it. NYC to him is similar to how I see it, making him one of my all time favorite writers and filmmakers. Oh Woody…
